Stories of the Overlanders Way

Live and breathe Australia’s stories on this wonderful journey along the Overlander’s Way. Follow the Ghosts of Gold Heritage Trail bringing our gold mining legends and characters to life. At the historic Coolibah Tree learn its connection to the Burke and Wills story. Boil a billy at Combo Waterhole which inspired our unofficial national anthem. Discover dinosaur stories at Kronosaurus Korner and learn the story of the Mitakoodi people of the Cloncurry River.

Option 2

Stations, Dinosaurs and Underground Treasure

Follow the paths of our droving heroes on the Overlander’s Way from Townsville to Mount Isa. Discover our gold mining history and stay at a sheep and cattle station. Meet ‘Hughie’ the Muttaburrasaurus and join a fossil hunt to find your very own 100 million year old fossil. Feed an endangered Dunnart, fossick for gemstones and join an interactive underground mine tour.

Ancient Fossils and Eco-Discovery Tour

Uncover ancient fossil deposits at the Riversleigh Fossil Fields, the richest know fossil mammal deposit in Australia, and explore Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park, one of Queensland’s most significant geological parks. Excavate your very own 100 million-year-old marine fossil at Richmond and explore geology, wildlife and plant life of Porcupine Gorge National Park.
